Many companies have a retention schedule but still keep 40% to 70% more records than necessary. This session will discuss records retention programs and issues that affect corporate compliance and governance programs and investigations.
The Underlying Problems
Companies retain way too much information. This is at the heart of nearly every records-related “real world” problem that companies face. And while most companies have a retention schedule, it seldom reflects the actual records and practices of the departments that are expected to comply with the schedule.
Practical First Steps
Records retention doesn’t have to be the never ending project. Within 45 days companies can establish the foundation of a defensible records retention program and have the data and insights needed to eliminate obsolete records and information.
Connection to Corporate Compliance
Companies that incorporate a defensible records management program into their corporate compliance program are able to:
- Eliminate obsolete records & information
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements
- Find information for litigation, investigations or audits
- Reduce storage and e-discovery costs
- Comply with new and emerging privacy laws
